Thanksgiving Turkey (Whole)
A whole Thanksgiving turkey, raised on pasture here in Leicester and fed corn and soy free, non-GMO feed. Processed October 23 at HLW Acres in Attica and frozen.
Average 17.0 lb. Birds run about 14 to 22 lb. You pay $8.25/lb for the exact weight of your bird. Want a smaller or larger one? Tell us in your order notes and we will match you as close as we can.
How much to buy: plan on about 1 lb per person, or 1.5 lb per person if you want leftovers. A 16 lb bird feeds about 10 to 16 people.
Thawing: your turkey comes frozen. Thaw it in the fridge, about 1 day for every 4 to 5 lb. A 16 to 17 lb bird needs about 4 days, so plan to have it home by the weekend before Thanksgiving. Short on time? Finish it in cold water in its bag, changing the water every 30 minutes (about 30 minutes per lb).
Getting it: Rochester home delivery Saturday, November 7 (order by Thursday, November 5). Buffalo home delivery Saturday, November 14 (order by Thursday, November 12). Brighton Farmers Market pickup on Sundays, or on-farm pickup Fridays 4 to 6 PM.
